Nubian Goats

Background of Nubian Goats

The breed was developed in in England by crossing British goats with bucks of African and Indian origin.

Traits of the Breed
Its distinguishing characteristics include large, pendulous ears and a "Roman" nose. Due to their Middle-Eastern heritage, Anglo-Nubians can live in very hot climates and have a longer breeding season than other dairy goats. Considered a dairy or dual-purpose breed, Anglo- Nubians are known for the high butterfat content of their milk. The Anglo Nubian breeding season is much longer than that of the Swiss breeds so it is possible to produce milk year round.

At Wise Acres

We have some semi-dwarf Nubians which produce as much milk as their larger sisters, but have smaller bodies. We choose animals for their personalities as well as milk production. Most of our milk goes into making cheese. We make over twenty differenet types of delicious cheese with their milk. Our goats are very friendly and love to be around people.
